Pension queries - NHS England – TempRE

If a candidate is wishing to opt out of the NHS Pensions Agency Scheme (NHSPA), they will need to ensure that they have completed the Pension Questionnaire in their Tasks section on TempRE and also need to submit an SD502 Opt Out form.

If the SD502 form is received within 30 days of the start of employment or when they were confirmed, the candidate will be opted out and receive a refund of the pension contributions and a refund of their lowered rate.

If the SD502 form is received after 30 days of the first shift date listed on the pension questionnaire, the candidate will be opted out, but Liaison is not able to make any refund and cannot advise of their eligibility for a refund via the RF12 route. Instead, the candidate will need to contact the NHSPA to confirm their eligibility before completing the form. The contact information can be found here:

Candidates are able to request a refund of pension contributions only, by completing an RF12 pension refund form, which needs to be sent to the trust that they are working for.
